Amanda Falkson- Psychotherapist & Counsellor :
I first trained in Counselling in 1987 and went on to use those skills with clients in my bodywork practice that I started in 1991. I commenced training at Spectrum in 1999 and I remain in post-graduate ongoing professional development and supervision with them.
My approach is concerned with the development of each individual's potential and to support the personal search to bring about a deeper, more meaningful experience of our lives. My training has provided me with a wide range of techniques and diagnostic models from both traditional and modern psychotherapeutic disciplines. This allows me to be open and flexible to different needs and be able to respond in a variety of different ways.
I am an experienced group facilitator specialising in stress management and change. I also teach massage and have pioneered massage services within the NHS (elderly mentally confused and sickle cell anaemia). My clients include: NHS Hillingdon Hospital; Royal London Hospital Whitechapel; The Princess Royal Trust Centres for Carers; Contact-a-Family; Carers UK; The Stroke Association; Barnardos; Age Concern; London Borough of Sutton Social Services; JP Morgan.
My professional background prior to working therapeutically was in advertising (TV & Radio Production and Media Planning/Buying) and the catering industry in which I had a business providing outside catering and gourmet hampers together with wine consultancy. I am also co-founder of "The Food Chain", a London-wide charity that supplies and delivers specially prepared, nutritionally balanced meals to people who are living with HIV related illnesses. www.foodchain.org.uk
