There can be many reasons why you may be feeling depressed.
It could be a reaction to difficult or painful circumstances, low self-esteem and low confidence, unexpressed anger, not being listened to or seen for who you are. These are just a few.
In counselling for depression, we would look at any negative messages that you may be giving to yourself that could be fostering low self-esteem or low confidence. We would examine contemporary or residual unexplored emotional issues that may be creating anger, distress and, ultimately, depression.
It is my belief that lack of action is a major feature of depression. Movement in depression is generally more contained and less expansive than when we feel happy. Taking action to do something about it is the first step to healing.
